Alamo SUNA

The Alamo Chapter of the Society of Urologic Nurses & Associates is a professional organization committed to excellence in clinical practice & research through education of its members, patients, family & community.

The Alamo Chapter of SUNA is headquartered in San Antonio and encompasses a huge area, from as far north as Waco, down to the valley in Harlingen, and from the western border of Texas over to Houston. The Alamo Chapter was founded in 1992 by a small group of enthusiastic urology nurses, headed by Betsy (Nielson) Omeis. This year marks our 18^th anniversary!

Over the years we have been a very active chapter on the local as well as the national level. We are proud to have been chosen as Chapter of the Year for 2001 and again in 2005!

On May 24, our chapter had an informal get together at Cha Cha's sponsored by Aaron Bolton of 180 Medical. Aaron discussed his product line while attendees enjoyed supper. About 35 people attended.

The Alamo Chapter of SUNA will hold its 19th Annual Seminar in Urology Nursing on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Mark the date on you calendar now!!!

The 18th Annual Conference was held on March 27, 2010 at the LaQuinta Inn and Conference Center in San Antonio , and was a great success. Our Alamo Chapter President, Myra Joseph , RN, welcomed more than 85 attendees to the conference. Guest speaker, Jeff Albaugh, PhD, RN, CUCNS opened the conference with a presentation on Sexual Dysfunction which was enthusiastically received by the attendees. Other topics included Treatment of Advanced Prostate Cancer; Evaluation and Treatment of UTIs; Vesicoureteral Reflux; and Diagnosis & Treatment of Non Invasive Bladder Cancer. The all day meeting included breakfast and lunch and many wornderful and fun door prizes. The grand door prize was a trip to the 2010 National SUNA conference in Boston and was won by SUNA member Margaret Cruz, RN.
